<div class="unit last">
	<div id="financeQA" class="widget faq">
		<div class="widgetWrap">
			<h3 >
			Are monthly payments necessary?</h3>
			<p>
			Unless you&#39;re in the position to pay cash for a new or pre-owned
			vehicle, you&#39;ll need to establish a payment plan to obtain that
			vehicle. Two options exist - taking out a loan or leasing.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3>
			How do loans and leases differ?</h3>
			<p>
			When you take out a loan, all of the money used to pay it off
			applies to your eventual ownership of the vehicle. The initial down
			payment and principal on the loan cover the total cost of the
			purchase. Lease payments, however, apply only to the use of the
			vehicle. The total sum of payments covers the vehicle&#39;s depreciation
			over the time you drive it and is usually less than the outright
			price of the vehicle.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>When is ownership transferred?</h4>
				<p>
				When paid in full, a loan terminates and you assume ownership.
				Your bank sends you the title that had been held while the loan
				maintained an outstanding balance. When a lease period ends you
				forfeit the vehicle to the lessor, unless the lessor offers to
				sell the vehicle afterwards. During the entire lease period the
				lessor maintains ownership and simply allows you to use the car.
				Ownership is only transferred if you chose to buy the vehicle
				after the lease terminates.</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3>
			How are monthly lease rates determined?</h3>
			<p>
			In formulating a monthly payment structure, a lessor is primarily
			concerned with the extent to which the vehicle will depreciate
			throughout the lease and the cost of borrowing money to finance the
			car during that period.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>Three key elements:</h4>
				<p>
				First, the adjusted capitalized cost is determined. This figure
				represents the real purchase price after elements such as the
				down payment, incentive discount and trade-in credit are
				deducted from the capitalized (actual) cost, while any fees or
				charges (e.g. destination) are added.</p>
				<p>
				Second, the residual value, or estimated value of the vehicle at
				the end of the lease, is determined and then subtracted from the
				adjusted capitalized cost to yield a depreciation figure. The
				residual value depends on the length of the agreement, expected
				mileage and make/model of the vehicle.</p>
				<p>
				Finally, a lessor assesses the money factor, a number that
				correlates with the cost of borrowing money during the lease
				period.</p>
			</div>
			<p>
			While these terms may seem unfamiliar, the Federal Reserve Board now
			requires dealers to publicize all leases&#39; down payment amounts,
			lengths, residual values and interest rates.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3>
			What factors determine the purchase price at the end of a lease?</h3>
			<p>
			Most leases rely exclusively on the residual value in determining
			the end of term purchase price. These closed-end deals require you
			to pay the fixed residual amount regardless of the actual market
			price. Open-end leases work differently in that the actual market
			value helps determine the purchase price. As a customer you are
			responsible for any difference between the residual and actual value
			when buying outright.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3>
			How are loan rates determined?</h3>
			<p>
			The size of monthly loan payments depends on the amount borrowed,
			the length of the loan, the interest rate and other factors such as
			your credit history. Paying more money initially lowers the
			principal of the loan, thus reducing individual payments. At any
			period during the loan you may opt to pay off the principal in its
			entirety, at which point the title of the vehicle is transferred to
			you.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>General loan specifications:</h4>
				<p>
				Down payment amounts may range between 10 to 20 percent of the
				vehicle&#39;s total cost, although some purchases require no down
				payment. A typical loan period is five years with an annual
				percentage rate around 8 percent. Some manufacturers offer lower
				rates, but be sure to investigate any associated conditions or
				clauses.</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3>
			Are loans available for used vehicles?</h3>
			<p>
			Yes, although they function somewhat differently from new car loans.
			A down payment of 20 percent or more is often required and the
			interest rate can be a point or two higher. Understandably, banks
			are more hesitant to loan money for used car purchases, as they
			would rather own a newer car if the borrower defaults. However, the
			market is full of good used vehicles, many of which are created by
			short term leasing.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa7">
			Can extra fees and charges be financed?</h3>
			<p>
			Yes, registration, taxes, extended service plans and other
			supplemental charges may be included in the financing plan.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Finance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3>
			Which option makes the most sense?</h3>
			<p>
			The answer to this question depends on how you plan to use the
			vehicle. If you like the idea of driving a more expensive vehicle
			for a smaller monthly payment, leasing is a great option. However,
			if eventually owning the car is important, financing with a loan is
			the way to go.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>What are the restrictions of driving a &quot;borrowed&quot; vehicle?</h4>
				<p>
				Annual mileage restrictions are a major limitation for customers
				who choose to lease. Lessors want their vehicles returned in
				saleable low-mileage conditions, so they place mileage caps on
				them. A typical yearly figure is between 12,000 and 15,000
				miles. Beyond the established limit, fees accrue on a
				per-mileage basis, usually in the range of $0.10 to $0.25 per
				mile. So if most of your driving is local, leasing makes sense.
				However, if you consistently tack on 500 or more miles a week,
				definitely look into a loan.</p>
				<h4>What are the other virtues of a loan?</h4>
				<p>
				Loans are also sensible for those who want to customize their
				vehicles, plan on keeping their cars for long periods of time
				and plan to re-sell their vehicles to help recoup the costs of
				ownership or expenses of additional cars. For those who quickly
				wear vehicles out, loans may be safer bets as lessors often add
				&quot;excessive wear&quot; charges if the car is returned with wear over
				the limits established by the contract.</p>
				<h4>Why lease?</h4>
				<p>
				Leasing ensures that you&#39;ll always drive a late-model vehicle,
				won&#39;t have to pay for warranty-covered repairs and won&#39;t have to
				bother with re-selling at the end.</p>

		<div class="widgetWrap">
			<h3 id="qa1">
			If a part on your vehicle demands replacing there are three options
			for replacement.</h3>
			<div class="indent">
				<p>
				First, you can find a factory OEM part by either going through a
				dealer or contacting the manufacturer directly. Factory parts
				are built by the OEM manufacturer to the exact same
				specifications as the existing parts. New OEM components are
				generally the most expensive option but often yield the best
				fit, durability and overall quality. If you own your vehicle and
				are thinking of reselling, documenting repairs using factory
				parts can increase the resale value of the vehicle.</p>
				<p>
				Second, you can find a new aftermarket part from a variety of
				parts dealers online and at shops around the country.
				Aftermarket parts are often exact replicas of OEM parts but are
				built by companies not associated with the primary auto
				manufacturer. While aftermarket pieces are less expensive than
				their OEM counterparts, they also may suffer in terms of
				quality, fit and finish. Aftermarket parts are great to get a
				car back up to speed if the budget is an issue and fit/quality
				do not matter. However, some aftermarket companies produce
				pieces that are of exceptional quality.</p>
				<p>
				Third, you can find a used factory (or maybe even a used
				aftermarket) part at a salvage yard or from a private seller.
				Good used factory parts are a great way to save money and get an
				OEM specified piece at the same time. Obviously, used parts are
				subject to wear and are highly variable in their quality and
				usability.</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Parts">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa2">
			Researching parts</h3>
			<p>
			To determine the best method of replacing a part, check with you
			dealer, owners of similar vehicles and on the Internet to determine
			what option makes sense. You know the new OEM part will work, so
			read online testimonials to see if aftermarket replacements are
			worth the cost. You can also gain insight that&#39;s helpful in a used
			search, learning the common defects/attributes of a part before
			buying it yourself.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Parts">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa3">
			Locating parts</h3>
			<p>
			Many suppliers offer both OEM and aftermarket parts for a broad
			range of vehicles. Some specialty parts may not be produced in the
			aftermarket if demand does not warrant investment. Tracking down
			these obscure pieces may require consulting a parts specialist. Some
			dealers have caches of unused factory parts, often called New Old
			Stock (NOS) or New Old Replacement Stock (NORS). These command high
			prices especially when out of production.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Parts">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa4">
			Add-on accessories</h3>
			<p>
			Like replacement parts, some add-on accessories are factory
			authorized while others are produced in the aftermarket. Depending
			on the popularity of a vehicle, a variety of special components
			exist to modify it. Engine enhancements, body kits, interior pieces,
			electronics, exhaust systems, wheels and tires are among the many
			elements that contribute to customization.</p>

                <h2>Trade In</h2>
                <h1>Trade In FAQ</h1>
<div class="unit last">
	<div id="tradeinQA" class="widget faq">
		<div class="widgetWrap">
			<h3 id="qa1">
			Why trade-in?</h3>
			<p>
			Trading in your current vehicle towards another can partially offset
			the cost of the new vehicle. The trade-in&#39;s net value goes towards
			the purchase or lease of a new car. Conditions of a trade-in vary
			depending on who owns the vehicle.</p>
			<p>
			If you own the vehicle, trading-in means that you&#39;re selling the car
			to the dealer for some determined price. As a result, the price of
			the new car goes down, only.</p>
			<p>
			If you are leasing a vehicle and do not own it, trading-in means
			that the seller of the new car agrees to pay the outstanding costs
			associated with the lease. Depending on the financing of the new
			vehicle and the outstanding balance on the old one, trading-in can
			either raise or lower the new car&#39;s price.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Trade In">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa2">
			Why is it beneficial to trade-in?</h3>
			<p>
			When you trade-in you don&#39;t have to worry about selling the vehicle
			yourself or any of the associated costs (advertising, showing the
			car, etc). A dealer may offer a price you could not get yourself as
			an incentive to purchase a new vehicle. If the trade-in has known
			problems that could plague you later (when the buyer returns
			complaining), selling the car to the dealer eliminates the bother.
			Trading-in a lease car may relieve you of, in the long run, monthly
			costs you cannot afford. Sometimes people trade in lease vehicles
			because of poor gas mileage or lack of practicality.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Trade In">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa3">
			Why decide against trading-in?</h3>
			<p>
			If you think you can get a better price selling privately, and it&#39;s
			worth the time, money and effort, do not sell to the dealer. Some
			cars are of special interest and dealers will not always recognize
			those interests.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Trade In">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa4">
			What happens to a trade-in?</h3>
			<p>
			Some are kept by the dealer and resold as used cars. Many are sent
			to auction and purchased by other dealers for resale. Dealers know
			that auction prices often will not match the sum credited toward a
			new vehicle, but they absorb the losses as sales incentives.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Trade In">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa5">
			How much can I expect to get?</h3>
			<p>
			Check used car values in guides issued by organizations such as
			Edmunds.com or the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).
			Often both trade-in and private sale values are listed. Factors such
			as mileage, overall condition, damage and known mechanical problems
			heavily influence the trade-in value.</p>

			<h3 id="qa1">
			What are the laws regarding automobile insurance?</h3>
			<p>
			The laws vary by state, but most require basic liability coverage.
			States want to be sure that motorists have some financial backing in
			the event of a collision or any insurance-related incident. Most
			states require insurance to operate a vehicle in any circumstance,
			but there are a few exceptions:</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<p>
				Tennessee and Wisconsin do not require liability but legally
				expect drivers to prove adequate &quot;financial responsibility&quot; in
				the event of a collision. (Source: TN, WI DMV websites)</p>
				<p>
				New Hampshire initially requires no insurance but does
				temporarily after a collision. (Source: NH DMV website)</p>
				<p>
				Virginia is a rare exception, allowing a driver to pay a $500
				Uninsured Motor Vehicle fee to legally operate without insurance
				at his/her own risk. However, the fee expires with the
				registration and must be renewed. Drivers in Virginia opting for
				insurance must meet the state&#39;s minimum coverage. (Source: VA
				DMV website;
				http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/citizen/vehicles/insurance.asp)</p>
			</div>
			<p>
			Drivers in these four states often still carry insurance as
			protection.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa2">
			How is one protected from uninsured drivers?</h3>
			<p>
			By purchasing uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. UM/UIM pays
			for medical bills if you and any occupants are hit by an uninsured
			motorist or one without enough insurance. Many states require this
			coverage by law.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>How is a vehicle protected from uninsured drivers?</h4>
				<p>
				Uninsured/underinsured motorist property damage coverage pays
				for damage to your vehicle if hit by a driver without any or
				enough insurance. Some states offer this coverage in place of
				collision coverage.</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa3">
			Is coverage transferable from state-to-state in the short term?</h3>
			<p>
			Yes, if you have an insurance policy you&#39;re covered throughout the
			United States. Moving to a different state temporarily may require
			changing coverage, depending on the amount of time a state allows
			residency with out-of-state insurance.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>What about long-term?</h4>
				<p>
				Moving for the long-term definitely requires switching
				insurance, although the time to do so can be somewhat variable.
				For example, a state may technically require changing after 90
				days, but if you have two full months left on your current
				policy it would seem silly to switch prematurely. However, the
				&quot;grey&quot; period in between could prove problematic in the event of
				an incident.</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa4">
			What is an SR-22?</h3>
			<p>
			An SR-22 is a form that proves a driver has insurance or is
			financially responsible. High-risk drivers are often required to
			carry these forms for periods of 3 to 5 years, depending on their
			offenses.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa5">
			What is liability insurance?</h3>
			<p>
			Liability covers bodily injury (including death) and property damage
			to others if you are determined responsible for an accident, even if
			you are not driving. Owning the vehicle and lending it to someone
			else constitutes responsibility. Liability coverage also pays for
			legal fees if you are sued as a result of an accident.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>How does one decipher the numbers associated with liability?</h4>
				<p>
				Insurers will often represent liability coverage with three
				consecutive numbers; for example, 50/100/25. The first number
				stands for maximum amount payable for an individual bodily
				injury in an accident, in this case $50,000. The second number
				represents the available coverage for all injuries in an
				accident, or $100,000. Finally, the last number denotes maximum
				property damage liability for one accident, $25,000.</p>
				<h4>What are the minimum requirements?</h4>
				<p>
				Amounts of required coverage vary among states. Along the
				spectrum of minimum coverage, a low figure is 15/30/5
				(California, New Jersey) while a high set is 50/100/25 (Alaska,
				Maine).</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa6">
			What is comprehensive insurance?</h3>
			<p>
			Comprehensive coverage pays for damage to your vehicle that is not
			caused by an accident with or without another vehicle. Natural
			events - fire, wind and flood - are included, in addition to theft
			and vandalism. Damaging encounters with animals are included as
			well. If a vehicle is stolen, comprehensive will reimburse you for
			any related expenses or losses. Some comp plans pay for the
			replacement of broken glass, often known as full-glass coverage.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa7">
			What is collision insurance?</h3>
			<p>
			Collision pays for damage to your vehicle in the event of an
			accident, regardless of whether or not another vehicle is involved.
			This insurance also provides you coverage if you are driving a
			non-owned or rental vehicle.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa8">
			What if the accident is my fault?</h3>
			<p>
			Several states have enacted &quot;no-fault&quot; policies that mandate your
			insurance company pay compensation for injury or damage regardless
			of who is to blame. These laws are meant to streamline the liability
			process while reducing injury fraud and lowering premiums.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa9">
			How are insurance rates determined?</h3>
			<p>
			Many different factors contribute to the final insurance rate.
			Generally, these pieces fall into the following categories:</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<p>
				<strong>Personal information</strong> — name, address, date of
				birth, gender, marital status, home ownership status,
				employment, education, credit history, membership status to
				various organizations, social security number (in some cases),
				age at which a driver&#39;s license was first obtained and very
				importantly, your driving record.</p>
				<p>
				<strong>Family information</strong> — other primary drivers,
				other occasional drivers and their driving histories.</p>
				<p>
				<strong>Vehicle information</strong> — year, make, model,
				primary use (pleasure/work), how often the vehicle is driven to
				work or school, business use of the vehicle, how long you&#39;ve
				owned the vehicle, factory safety equipment, presence of an
				alarm/immobilizer system, expected annual mileage and zip code
				at which the vehicle is normally parked.</p>
				<p>
				<strong>Previous insurance information</strong> — name of
				previous insurer, length of previous insurance, lapses in
				insurance, previous liability limits and other coverage.</p>
				<p>
				<strong>Previous insurance claims, accidents and moving
				violations</strong> — essentially an elaboration on your driving
				record, including dates and severity of the events and costs of
				repair.</p>
				<p>
				<strong>Desired coverage</strong> — limits on liability and
				whether or not comprehensive and collision are chosen.</p>
			</div>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa10">
			Why is the parking zip code required?</h3>
			<p>
			Insurance companies want to know where the vehicle is kept most of
			the time and if it garaged, driveway parked or street parked.
			Obviously, areas with higher crime will contribute to higher
			comprehensive rates than those with lower crime.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa11">
			What is a premium?</h3>
			<p>
			A premium is just another name for a rate.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa12">
			What is a deductible?</h3>
			<p>
			A deductible is a fixed amount of money you pay for each insurance
			claim. For example, choosing a deductible of $500 per accident means
			that for each accident you pay that amount before the insurance
			pays. If you chose to add comprehensive or collision you can vary
			your rate by adjusting your deductibles. High deductibles correspond
			to lower rates, while low deductibles often mean higher rates.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa13">
			What if the claim is below the deductible?</h3>
			<p>
			You pay the full cost. If you carry a $1,000 deductible for
			collision and a minor accident causes $700 in damage, you&#39;re fully
			responsible for the cost.</p>
			<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Insurance">
			<span>top</span></a>
			<h3 id="qa14">
			What if a vehicle can be repaired for less than the paid amount?</h3>
			<p>
			Often a vehicle is repaired without using the entire insurance
			payment. Although different insurers maintain different policies,
			repairs are generally supposed to be documented to show the money
			went into the repair of the car. It&#39;s perfectly legal to keep part
			or all of the money and not fix the car, but in the event of another
			accident with the same vehicle an insurance company may reduce
			payment in accordance with the first payment. For example, if an
			insurance company pays $2,500 for an accident and only $1,000 is

			Tips for reducing insurance premiums</h3>
			<p>
			While reducing liability coverage and raising deductibles may lower
			premiums, there are other ways to lessen your rates without
			sacrificing any coverage.</p>
			<div class="indent">
				<h4>Keep a clean record</h4>
				<p>
				Some insurers offer a discount to drivers who consistently prove
				to be safe drivers by not receiving moving violations or being
				involved in accidents. At the least, keeping a clean record will
				prevent extra surcharges from being added to your premium.</p>
				<h4>Maintain consistent coverage</h4>
				<p>
				Customers who do not lapse in their insurance often receive a
				better premium when applying for new coverage.</p>
				<h4>Take a defensive driving course</h4>
				<p>
				Drivers who participate in official courses in defensive driving
				may see reductions in their rates, especially if accidents or
				moving violations appear on their driving records.</p>
				<h4>Take a Driver Improvement course</h4>
				<p>
				For drivers over 55 years of age, these refresher courses can
				improve skills while reducing rates.</p>
				<h4>Choose a suitable vehicle</h4>
				<p>
				Certain vehicles are cheaper to insure depending on their
				characteristics. A basic Volvo and a powerful Chevrolet Corvette
				are likely to have very different rates.</p>

	Vehicle Purchase FAQ</h1>
<p>
<strong>Do you have all titles on hand for your vehicles?</strong></p>
<p>
We do not always have titles on hand for vehicles that are placed for sale, titles
may be in transit from banks, from other dealerships, from the state, and a host
of other reasons for normal processing delays in title paperwork.</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#VehiclePurchase">Top</a>
<p>
We are a franchised new car and truck dealer in Colorado and guarantee clear titles
on all vehicles that we sell. Our dealership and staff are fully licensed and bonded.
Our professional staff is here to assist you with your titling needs. Ed Bozarth

and title are a constant at our dealership. If having title on hand is of critical
importance to you, please call to verify its disposition prior to contracting for
sale. </p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#VehiclePurchase">Top</a>
<p>
<strong>What &#39;other&#39; fees are there besides the purchase price? </strong></p>
<p>
The other fees include taxes, shipping and documentation charges. If you are purchasing
the vehicle and taking delivery at our dealership then you will not be charged shipping.
If you live in Colorado, taxes are based on where you live. State tax is 2.9% and
various cities, counties and local municipalities require that we collect additional
taxes. For instance parts of Denver, Colorado are now 8.1%. There
is a $499.99 Dealer and Handling charge which is added to the negotiated price of
each vehicle sold, for costs and additional profit to the seller/dealer for items
such as inspecting, cleaning, and adjusting new and pre-owned vehicles. If you live
in the Denver Metro area or a location that requires emissions testing there is
a $25.00 charge for an emission testing certificate. If we are filing a lien on
your behalf there is a $17.50 filing fee. These fees are fixed and non-negotiable.
This information is current as of time of original publishing please confirm amounts
and descriptions by calling the dealership prior to contracting for sale. </p>

                <h1>Service FAQ </h1>
<p>
<b><span>When do I need to change my oil? </span></b></p>
<p>
<span>We get asked this question a lot and the truth is it depends on a lot of factors.</span></p>
<p>
<span>For several years, vehicle manufacturers have been recommending extended oil
changes, rather than the more common 3,000 mile changes. </span></p>
<p>
<span>General Motors and Ed Bozarth #1 Park Meadow Chevrolet support a simplied
maintenance strategy as described below. </span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>

<p>
<b><span>YOUR OIL LIFE SENSOR AND SIMPLIFIED MAINTENCE </span></b></p>
<p>
<span>If you&#39;re a GM owner and your vehicle is equipped with the GM Oil Life System
(OLS), you can use the Simplified Maintenance plan to save time, money and oil.
The plan calls for you to visit a GM Goodwrench dealership, such as Ed Bozarth #1
Park Meadow Chevrolet, Inc. only when your &quot;Change Oil&quot; light comes on, instead
of every 3,000 miles. This also saves environmental waste that can result from too
frequent oil changes. </span></p>
<p>
<span>The longer oil change recommendations are largely based on used oil analysis.
The oil is run for an extended interval and then checked for signs of oil breakdown
and metal particulates. It is true that the oil is not fully worn out, even at the
longer intervals. There are many viewpoints, however we believe we can save you
money and help the environment by increasing the duration between oil changes.&nbsp;
Just remember to stop by every 3,000 miles for a courtesy pit stop where we will
perform a quick visual inspection on the service drive in a matter of a couple minutes
to make sure that your vehicle is in proper running order. </span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>Are Synthetic Oils better and are they worth the extra money?</span></b></p>
<p>
<b><span>&nbsp;</span></b><span>Synthetic oils are becoming more common and some
cars even require them to maintain the new car warranty. (Corvette and Cadillac
engines are built for synthetic oils to name a few.) With the increased protection
they provide compared to the $30 to $40 extra they cost per oil change, we believe
they are well worth it.&nbsp; As the average drivers are only needing to change
their oil two to four times a year, they cost is not too hard to justify.</span></p>
<p>
<span>Synthetic motor oils can be a good choice for high output, turbocharged or
supercharged engines, vehicles that are used for towing (especially during hot weather),
or vehicles that are operated in extremely cold or hot climates.<br />
<br />
Synthetic motor oils, though several times more expensive than mineral-based motor
oils, can improve fuel economy and provide longer intervals between changes. They
also provide instant lubrication on start-up.</span></p>
<p>
<span>If you’re driving habits have you driving in any extreme conditions, consider
upgrading at your next service.</span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>I have a busy schedule and quick lubes are just as good for a simple oil
change aren’t they?</span></b></p>
<p>
<b><span>&nbsp;</span></b><span>There is a big difference between a professional
repair shop and a quick lube, in fact changing the oil is only a small part of this
essential maintenance service and you would be amazed how often we see BIG mistakes
made by inexperienced quick lube employees on this “simple service”.&nbsp; Did we
mention that our oil service is only $29.99 so why pay more for less service elsewhere.
</span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>Do those fuel additives really improve fuel economy?</span></b></p>
<p>
<span>The reality is that modern engines use the fuel they burn so efficiently that
an additive can’t possibly make a measurable improvement in your fuel economy.&nbsp;&nbsp;
If you were to look at the tailpipe emissions of a modern car you would find almost
zero leftover fuel coming out, if nearly 100% of the fuel is burned up, how could
an additive improve that? The US FTC has tested well over 100 advertised fuel savings
devices and has not found any devices that significantly improve fuel economy:
</span><a href="http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/autos/aut10.shtm">
<span>http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/autos/aut10.shtm</span></a></p>
<p>
<span>Save your money and just maintain your car properly, that will pay off in
long run.</span><br />

<b><span>DO I NEED NEW TIRES?</span></b></p>
<p>
<span>It is important to check your tires at least once a month to determine if
they are safe to drive on, in need of service or replacement. If you think your
vehicle may need new tires, the simple procedures below will help you decide. If
you find that your tire is flat from a nail or puncture, then there is a chance
it can be repaired. The chances for repair are highest when: </span></p>
<p>
<span>1. The damaged tire has not been driven on while flat.<br />
2. The damage is on the tread part of the tire (the part that comes in contact with
the road).<br />
3. The puncture is less than 1/4 inch. </span></p>
<p>
<span>If you have any questions about whether your tire can be repaired, stop by
any Ed Bozarth #1 Park Meadow Chevrolet, Inc. and have one of our tire technicians
inspect it. Worn down tires are not only unsafe, they are against the law! The minimum
legal tire tread depth is 2/32 inch. In wet driving conditions, 4/32 inch or less
tread depth means there is a high risk of significant loss of wet traction. This
means your vehicle is more likely to slide or hydroplane on wet roads, putting the
safety of you and your passengers at risk. Below are two ways to check for worn
tires. </span></p>
<p>
<b><span>1. The Penny Test</span></b><span><br />
To test if the tread is worn out, place a penny into the most shallow tread groove
with Lincoln&#39;s head down. If the top of his head remains visible, then the tire
should be replaced. </span></p>
<p>
<b><span>2. Look for wear bars.</span></b><span><br />
Wear bars are narrow bands that appear in the grooves across the tread of the tire.
When the wear bars are even with the tread depth, only 2/32-inch of tread remains.
If you can see the wear bars, it&#39;s time to replace the tire. <a name="28274">
</a></span></p>
<p>
<b><span>How do you know if you need new tires?</span></b><span><br />
Tire wear depends on several factors, including your driving style and tire maintenance
habits. Wrong size load and speed rating can void your warranty. But one sure way
to know when to replace your tires is when treadwear indicators appear. A tire&#39;s
built-in treadwear indicators are &quot;wear bars&quot; that look like narrow strips of smooth
rubber across the tread and appear when it&#39;s time to replace the tire. <br />
<br />
<b>You also need a new tire if:</b></span></p>
<p>
<span>You can see three or more treadwear indicators around the tire</span></p>
<p>
<span>Cord or fabric is showing through the rubber</span></p>
<p>
<span>The tread or sidewall is cracked, cut or snagged deep enough to show cord
or fabric</span></p>
<p>
<span>The tire has a bulge or split</span></p>
<p>
<span>The tire has a puncture, cut, or other damage that can&#39;t be repaired correctly</span></p>
<p>
&nbsp;</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>HOW MANY TIRES DO I NEED?</span></b></p>
<p>
<a name="28298"></a><span class="text2"><span>Once you check your tires for wear
and tear, you can determine how many you need to replace. If you are only replacing
one or two tires, see the tips below to make sure you choose the right size and
quality. </span></span></p>
<p>
<b><span>Replacing 1 Tire</span></b><span><br />
Replace with exact brand, line, speed rating and load capacity of the other three
tires. If you use a different tire, you may be more likely to encounter poor handling,
pulling and instability. </span></p>
<p>
<b><span>Replacing 2 Tires</span></b><span><br />
Replace with the same- or better-quality tires. Also, make sure the new tires are
mounted on the rear. Why? New tires have deeper tread with greater hydroplaning
resistance, so they can grip wet roads better than older tires. You can steer to
compensate for the lower wet traction of the worn front tires and safely stay in
control of your vehicle. </span></p>
<p>
<b><span>Replacing 4 Tires</span></b><span><br />
You have a ton of options! This is the best-case scenario because you can change
the size and quality of all your tires to suit your vehicle and your driving needs.
<a name="28300"></a></span></p>
<p>
<strong><span>What does the TPS light mean?</span></strong><b><span><br />
</span></b><span>This stands for tire pressure monitoring system. A light will display
in the dash when pressure is less than the manufacturer&#39;s recommendation.</span></p>
<p>
<strong><span>Do I need winter tires?</span></strong><b><span><br />
</span></b><span>This depends on your tires, your preferences, and your driving
habits.</p>

</span><a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p><b>How often should
I rotate my tires? </b></p>
<p>
<span>Your tires should be rotated every other oil change.&nbsp; Neglecting to rotate
your tires is major causes of premature tire wear and fuel inefficiency. </span>
</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>What does it mean if my &quot;check engine&quot; or &quot;service engine soon&quot; light comes
on? </span></b><span><br />
There are many sensors and computerized components that manage your vehicle’s engine
performance and emissions. When one of these fails, the &quot;check engine&quot; light is
illuminated. Although your car may seem to run fine, it is important to have the
issue addressed to prevent long-term problems. </span></p>
<p>
&nbsp;</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>How soon should I schedule service if my service engine soon light come
on?</span></b><span;color:black"></span></p>
<p>
<span>Most problems can be scheduled when convenient and repaired as soon as possible.
If the light is flashing, the car should not be driven until repaired. With the
light flashing, the Catalytic Converter can be damaged. Always refer to the manufacturer
owner’s manual if in question. </span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>What should I do if my car starts to overheat?<br />
</span></b><span>This is a very serious problem – if your car overheats for too
long, you can damage your engine. As soon as possible, find a safe place to pull
off the road and shut the engine off! Do not attempt to check the fluid level in
the radiator as it can burn you. The best thing to do is have your car towed to
a repair shop.</span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>How to make sure my car battery has a good electrical connection?<br />
</span></b><span>Battery cables and terminals should also be cleaned and inspected
to make sure they provide a good electrical connection.</span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>I need to replace a burned out fuse, what should I do?</span></b><span><br />
Always replace burned-out fuses with ones of the same amperage (printed on the fuse)
and note that if a fuse continues to &quot;blow,&quot; you should have the circuit checked
professionally by one of our technicians for defects.</span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>How often should I check my tires?</span></b><span> </span></p>
<p>
<span>Properly inflated tires last longer and get better gas mileage. It&#39;s a good
idea to check the tires once a month.</span></p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<p>
<b><span>How can I improve the gas mileage of my vehicle?</span></b></p>

try to have the injectors cleaned every 50,000 miles. Well tuned cars get better
gas mileage.</span></p>

<strong><span>What dashboard lights should I worry about and which are just precautions?</span></strong><br />

<strong>With the change of the season and the temperatures, do I need to have mycar
checked?</strong></p>
<p>
It is a good idea to have your coolant checked to determine its freezing and boiling

<b><span>A GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING YOUR AUTOMOBILE</span></b></p>
<h3>
<span>Engine coolant</span></h3>
<p>
Water and antifreeze keep your engine from overheating and freezing during extreme
temperatures. Intervals for flushing the system and replacing coolant vary, as some
manufacturers promise long lasting antifreeze good past 100,000 miles. A general
timeframe would be every few years or 30,000 to 40,000 miles.</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<h3>
<span>Spark plugs</span></h3>
<p>
Older vehicles required the replacement or adjustment of spark plugs much more often
than new vehicles do. Manufacturers today promise over 100,000 miles before a tune-up
that includes changing the plugs. Still, checking the plugs at 50,000 to 60,000
miles is not a bad idea.</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<h3>
<span>Air filter</span></h3>
<p>
The interval for changing the filter depends on the quality of filter, type of vehicle
and environment in which most driving occurs. Traveling on dirt roads will surely
clog a filter faster than paved highways. Also, local pollution can determine filter
life.</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<h3>
<span>Battery</span></h3>
<p>
Again, the interval of changing a battery depends on the type of battery, type of
vehicle and local climate. Super cold regions may require a more powerful battery
for cold starting. Also, rechargeable batteries that have completely lost their
charge at some point often never reach full potential again.</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<h3>
<span>Hoses/belts/general pathways</span></h3>
<p>
During scheduled maintenance it&#39;s a good idea to inspect all hoses, belts and other
connections under the hood to be sure everything is in good shape and properly attached.</p>
<a class="toplink" href="/faq.aspx#Service">Top</a>
<h3>
<span>Windshield wipers</span></h3>
<p>
Wipers need to be replaced, especially in climates with ice and snow. Sometimes
just the blade needs replacing, while other times the entire wiper unit should go.
Some customers may choose different types of wipers for better performance.</p>

		<span>Like tires, brake life depends heavily on driving style. Lots of stressful
		braking will significantly shorten the life. Replacement requires new pads
		and sometimes, new rotors. There are many ways to restore your gas mileage
		and get even better gas mileage.&nbsp; Some of these include having certain
		preventive maintenance services, while others incorporate driving habits
		that promote conservation of fuel.</span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>AUTOMOTIVE TIPS</span></b></p>
		<p>
		<span>Here are some highlights:</span></p>
		<ul type="disc">
			<li><span>Regularly have your vehicle serviced- at minimum what your
			vehicle manufacturer recommends. </span></li>
			<li><span>Allow us to design a preventive maintenance program for each
			of your vehicles- we&#39;ll let you know what you need when it&#39;s needed.
			</span></li>
			<li><span>Make sure your tires are inflated to the proper air pressure.
			</span></li>
			<li><span>Use the proper fuel for your vehicle. </span></li>
			<li><span>Have us check your oxygen sensors to make sure they are in
			working order. </span></li>
			<li><span>Avoid hard acceleration and fast stops- try to gradually accelerate
			and decelerate. </span></li>
			<li><span>Use your cruise control when traveling for long periods of
			time and not in heavy traffic. </span></li>
			<li><span>Try to combine some short trips wherever possible and plan
			your routes to save time. </span></li>
			<li><span>If you think you&#39;re going to be idling for a while, consider
			turning of the engine.</span></li>
		</ul>
		<p>
		<b><span>TEN WAYS YOU CAN SAVE GAS</span></b></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>1.</span></b><span> Go the speed limit. Use cruise control.<br />
		Speed limits are calculated for maximum safety – they&#39;ll also reward you
		with maximum gas mileage. You can get up to 20 percent more mileage traveling
		55 mph than 70 mph. Using cruise control provides additional gas savings.
		</span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>2.</span></b><span> Drive evenly. Avoid hard stops.<br />
		Quick starts burn gas while hard stops also cost you. Take your foot off
		the accelerator and coast a bit before stopping for a traffic light or a
		stop sign. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>3.</span></b><span> Avoid idling and rush hour traffic.<br />
		You&#39;re burning fuel while idling – up to a gallon every hour. So, avoid
		rush hour traffic when possible. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>4.</span></b><span> Open windows at slow speeds. Use A/C on highways.<br />
		Around town, turn your air conditioning off and roll down the windows. On
		the highway, open windows create drag at speeds of 40 mph or more, so roll
		them up and use the air. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>5.</span></b><span> Remove junk from the trunk.<br />
		Added weight in your vehicle affects fuel economy, so take unnecessary items
		out of your trunk. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>6.</span></b><span> Fill up when it&#39;s cool and before holidays.<br />
		Cooler temperatures in the early morning or late evening create less vapor.
		Also, getting a fill-up three days before a holiday will help you save on
		the per-gallon price at the pump. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>7.</span></b><span> Don&#39;t top off gas and tighten the cap.<br />
		When buying gas, stop when the pump shuts off automatically. And remember,
		your tank needs both fuel and fumes, so tighten the gas cap after every
		fill-up. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>8.</span></b><span> Use the correct fuel grade.<br />
		Use the fuel grade recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. In addition,
		TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is even better for your vehicle. It is a class
		of gasoline with enhanced detergency, that exceed detergent requirements
		imposed by the EPA. It meets voluntary deposit control standards developed
		by four automotive companies, including General Motors. TOP TIER gasoline
		retailers include: <br />
		Chevron<br />
		Conoco<br />
		Phillips <br />
		QuikTrip<br />
		76<br />
		Shell <br />
		Texaco <br />
		Chevron-Canada <br />
		Shell-Canada <br />
		Petro-Canada<br />
		Sunoco-Canada<br />
		Entec Stations<br />
		MFA Oil Company<br />
		Kwik Trip/Kwik Star<br />
		The Somerset Refinery, Inc. <br />
		Aloha Petroleum<br />
		Tri-Par Oil Company <br />
		Turkey Hill <br />
		Mileage (Severson Oil Co.) </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>9.</span></b><span> Don&#39;t accelerate up hill.<br />
		Build up speed before an incline, and then maintain it on the way up. Coast
		on the way down for additional fuel economy. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>10.</span></b><span> Avoid rooftop carriers.<br />
		Approximately one quarter of each gallon of gas is needed to overcome wind
		resistance, so avoid carrying things on your roof. If necessary, use an
		aerodynamic carrier to help minimize drag. </span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>TIRE PRESSURE</span></b><span><br />
		Maximize your tires&#39; performance and durability by monitoring and maintaining
		correct air pressure. <br />
		<br />
		Air is a gas, expanding when heated and contracting when cooled. For most
		of North America, fall and early winter are especially important times for
		checking tire pressure – as the ambient temperature falls, tire pressure
		goes down. <br />
		<br />
		A good rule of thumb is that every 10 degrees Fahrenheit temperature change,
		tire pressure changes about 1 psi - higher as temperature rise, lower as
		they fall. Also, check your vehicle&#39;s Owner&#39;s Manual for recommended tire
		pressure.<br />
		<br />
		<b>Under-inflated tires can cause:</b></span></p>
		<p>
		<span>Premature or irregular wear</span></p>
		<p>
		<span>Poor handling</span></p>
		<p>
		<span>Reduced fuel economy</span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>Over-inflated tires can cause:</span></b></p>
		<p>
		<span>Unusual wear</span></p>
		<p>
		<span>Poor handling</span></p>
		<p>
		<span>Reduced fuel economy</span></p>
		<p>
		<b><span>Checking Air Pressure</span></b><span><br />
		Check your vehicle&#39;s tires at least once a month, when the tires are cold
		(let the vehicle sit for at least 3 hours). Look in your owner&#39;s manual
		for the recommended tire inflation for your vehicle. Use a quality gauge.
		Don&#39;t &quot;eyeball&quot; tires – radial tires can look fine even when they&#39;re under-inflated.
		<br />
		<br />
		Be sure to look for objects that have become wedged in the tread – they
		can work themselves further into the tire and cause air loss. <br />
		<br />
		And don&#39;t forget to check the spare! </span></p>
